We reviewed 12 lessons that the Bible teaches, and that everyone should know. I placed them below.
I narrowed the list of 25 lessons down to 12 so we could spend a little more time on each of the 12 lessons.
At the end of discussing each lesson, we asked an important question- Why is that lesson important?
Every lesson in the Bible is very important. I wanted the kids to come up with their own reasons for why that lesson is important.
Please spend some time with your kids and go over these lessons with them.
1. Jesus died for my sins- John 3:16, 14:6
2. God looks at my heart, not my appearance- 1 Samuel 16:7
3. I must put God first- Matthew 6:33
4. Loving others brings blessings- Ephesians 4:32
5. Prayer is powerful!- John 14:14
6. Nothing can separate us from God’s love- Romans 8:38-39
7. The Bible is our guidebook for life- 2 Timothy 3:16-17
8. The Holy Spirit is my helper- John 14:26
9. True joy is found in Jesus- Colossians 3:2
10. My body is a temple- 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
11. The safest place is where God wants me- Psalm 139:9-10
12. Only what’s done for Christ will last- Matthew 6:19-20
Think About It: Is it good to know these lessons?
Devotional
This week’s devotional is a continuation of last week and is all about always being happy and never stopping in our prayers and giving Him thanks for whatever is happening. ‘Always be happy. Never stop praying. Give thanks whatever happens. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.’
– 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
It is easy to be happy when things are going well, but God wants us to always be happy. He wants the best for us.
When things don’t go our way and we become sad, He wants us to be happy. Why? Because we can trust Him to turn it around. We don’t have to be happy for the bad that happens, but we can be happy as we trust in God to make it better than it was before. ‘You meant to hurt me. But God turned your evil into good. It was to save the lives of many people. And it is being done. ‘ – Genesis 50:20
I think His call to have us be happy goes together with praying. It is like when you don’t know what to do, you ask your parents, and mom or dad gives you advice. That advice usually makes things better. When we pray to God, His advice always makes it better. During the times when He is testing us or He is disciplining us, it does feel good.
When that happens, I want you to remember that He only disciplines those He loves. ‘The Lord corrects those he loves. And he punishes everyone he accepts as his child.” Proverbs 3:11-12’ – Hebrews 12:6
Why should we be happy, because now we know that He loves us and that we are His children?
It is because of that, we have every right to be thankful and give Him our gratitude.

GOD ENCOUNTERS
This week, I want to ask you about your God Encounters.
If you have not encountered God this week, I want you to be on the lookout for Him.
When we take the time to seek Him with our whole hearts, we will find Him. That is a promise from the only one who is able to keep His promises.
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
– Jeremiah 29:13
There are many rewards in God’s Kingdom. There are rewards in the kingdom of heaven for the good works we do here on Earth. However, there are also rewards that we can have here on Earth when we follow His commands.
How many can you think of? I will give you a dollar for each one you tell me on Sunday.

God always amazes me. Every week while I am preparing for the week’s lesson, God amazes me as He leads me. I always feel good in my spirit when I am able to determine the lesson that I will teach. Or should I write, the lesson that God will teach through me? His kindness constantly gives me peace and He makes it easy for me to write the lesson.
Proverbs 16:1 The plans of the heart belong to man,
but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
$10 Memory Verse:
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
